The Red Sox won another series against a lesser team. It was the Angels again. After dropping the first game, the Red Sox bounced back to win the next two, snapping a four-game losing streak to start the season.
Finally, a starter has a hiccup.
Tanner Houck started the series off with a rough 1st inning. Single, HBP, error by David Hamilton, RBI fielders choice, RBI single, wild pitch, RBI groundout. 3-0 before the foam settled on your $9 Sam Adams. Houck finished with 5.1 IP 12(!) H 4 ER, 0 BB, and 2K. It was the first time a starter had struggled so much all season. It also had Red Sox fans in a dark place about the Fens.
Oh, how the turntables have turned.
The Red Sox scored six runs in the first two innings on Saturday afternoon. The highlight being a moonshot from Triston Casas. It went 429 feet. A bomb.
Casas has turned a corner after a bad spring and a slow start to the season.

Kenley wobbles but he won’t fall down.
Game 3 on Sunday was a microcosm of the season thus far. Brayan Bello had a great start. He ran into some trouble in the sixth as he reached his season-high in pitches, finishing with 107 pitches. Justin Slaten came in and got a double play on one pitch. Then the bullpen started giving it back before Kenley held on by striking out Mike Trout with runners on second and third. The starters are just not being helped out by their defense or the bullpen right now. This may be the trend of the season.
