The Red Sox are back on the road! Hit the music:

Road warrrior Abreu, road warrior Bello and the rest of the traveling Red Sox swept the Pirates this weekend to up their road record to 10-3. Can they just stay away from Fenway Park the whole year?

Brayan Bello, ace?

Brayan Bello’s line from Friday night was a cool 6 IP, 1 H 0 ER 7K, and 2 BB. His ERA is currently 3.04, he has not thrown a 4-seam fastball yet, opponents batting average against his changeup is a paltry .057 and his K rate is up a full strike out over last year. Still early but these are the improvements you want to see after signing a guy to a long-term deal.

Why can’t we have nice things?

Ok, pretty ridiculous statement about a franchise that has won four World Series and been to three ALCS’ since I was fifteen. But, Triston Casas is the latest addition to the Red Sox growing IL roster. Casas left Saturday’s game in the first inning after a rib strain. When asked about it before the game on Sunday Alex Cora expressed concern about it being a lengthy IL stint. Here is the IL list for the Red Sox as of Sunday courtesy of FanGraph’s Roster Resource:

That list of no timetable for return is incredible long.

Cam Booser

The sweep was great but the story of the weekend was Cam Booser. Booser has had a broken femur, borken vertebra, Tommy John surgery, and a torn labrum. Not to mention that when he was rehabbing form the labrum surgery he was HIT BY A FUCKING CAR and broke his back! He was suspended 50 games in 2015 for marijuana possession. To all the people who were working for Major League Baseball’s disciplinary department back then, maybe look the other way for a guy that wants to light one up who had recently been HIT BY A FUCKING CAR! NESN caught emotions pouring out of Booser after closing out Friday night’s game. It was an awesome moment.
